The districts of Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a large city and has several unique parts. From the cultural museum quarter to the well-known working-class neighborhood of the Jordaan. To give you a bit of guidance, we share a number of important neighborhoods below, simply divided in the center, north, east, south and west.

Amsterdam center
The heart of Amsterdam, where you can find the nicest shops, the most trendy cafés, the most beautiful museums and most impressive sights. Stroll along the canals, through the Jordaan, shop the best items in ‘De 9 Straatjes’ and relax in one of the oldest gardens in Europe.

Amsterdam-Noord
At Central Station you take the free ferry to Amsterdam North, where you will be surprised by the renewed and cool character of the neighbourhood. But you will also find nice towns and green surroundings in Noord.

Amsterdam-Oost
Surrounded by water are the ‘Oostelijke Eilanden’ (Eastern Islands) of Amsterdam, you’ll fine a place with a rich history and full of hotspots and sights. Walk through the Czaar Peterstraat and the Javastraat for delicious food. Visit the Oosterpark for a nice and quiet afternoon and visit, for example, the Tropenmuseum or the Scheepvaartmuseum.

Amsterdam-Zuid
Amsterdam South is a lively area consisting of the districts Zuidoost, Oud-Zuid and De Pijp. It is the cultural heart of Amsterdam, full of iconic museums, concert halls, luxury shops and fine restaurants.

Amsterdam-West
Amsterdam-West is the largest part of Amsterdam. It is a diverse, green district with many lively neighbourhoods: Bos en Lommer, de Baarsjes, Oud-West, Westerpark and Nieuw-West. These neighbourhoods are full of special shops, markets, trendy hotspots and hidden gems.
