The 9 Straatjes & the Jordaan
The 9 Straatjes (9 Little Streets) are a place not to be missed when you visit Amsterdam. These are 9 beautiful shopping streets in the middle of the canals of Amsterdam. Another big plus is that the 9 Straatjes are very central and are therefore very easy to reach.
In these streets you walk along the famous Amsterdam canals and authentic Amsterdam canal houses. But what people love to visit are also the cute boutiques, vintage shops and specialty shops.
After shopping in the 9 Straatjes, it is also recommend to pay a visit to the Jordaan. A picturesque neighborhood with canal houses, bridges and real Amsterdam vibes.
The Plantage
Nature and culture come together in the Plantage neighborhood, right in the center of Amsterdam. This is the place where you will find one of the oldest gardens in Europe, Hortus Botanicus, and where the ARTIS city zoo is located.
If you like museums you don’t have to go far, because in the Plantage area you will find the Rembrandthuis, Hermitage Amsterdam, the Jewish Historical Museum, the Resistance Museum and cultural places such as the Royal Theater CarrĂ© and the National Opera & Ballet. In short: a neighborhood with a rich culture that is really worth a visit.
The Spiegelkwartier
Thanks to the rich history of this neighborhood, the Spiegelkwartier is the center for art and antiques trade. This means a neighborhood full of antique shops, curios and art galleries, run by people who know what they are talking about.
In addition, the Spiegelkwartier has a lot of nice (fashion) shops, design boutiques and so on. Very nice to browse or visit if you are looking for something specific.
Haarlemmerstraat & Haarlemmerdijk
The Haarlemmerbuurt is located west of the center of Amsterdam. A very nice, lively neighborhood full of shops and cafes. Walk through the Haarlemmerstraat and visit all kinds of shops with clothing, plates, art, vintage and more.
