If you have ever been to Antwerp, chances are that you arrived at Antwerp Central and walked directly from here to the Meir and the Grote Markt. Which is the perfect place of course for a day of shopping. But did you know that there are also a lot of nice things around the central station?
Right opposite of the central station you will find, for example, the chocolate museum “Chocolate Nation” and the Antwerp zoo. If you walk a bit towards the center, you will quickly set foot in Antwerp’s largest shopping street: the Meir. Here you are surrounded by beautiful buildings and all kinds of well known shops.
The (car-free) shopping street leads to the old center of Antwerp, where you will find the famous attractions such as the Grote Markt, the City Hall, Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe-Cathedral and the Rubens House.
When getting off or boarding the train, don’t forget to take in the central station; this architectural gem has been repeatedly voted one of the most beautiful station in the world and has since become a monument.
