Whether you are a hobby photographer or want to fill your Instagram with the most beautiful snapshots of your trips; The Hague is filled with Instagrammable spots to make the most beautiful photos. Visit the places below to give your feed a boost!

1. Het Binnenhof

The political heart and also one of the most recognizable places in our country is of course the Binnenhof. This place is surrounded by a beautiful canal and cute stalls and therefore a nice background for your photos. Our tip is to visit during less busy hours to make sure your photos aren’t filled with tourists.

2. De Pier in Scheveningen

The sea, the boulevard, the Kurhaus and a large Ferris wheel are the backdrop for your Instagram photo. Another great idea here is to visit one of the beach bars, such as Indigo or The Fat Mermaid.

3. Kunstmuseum

What better place to take pictures than one devoted entirely to art? The building, the interior, the colors, the courtyard and of course the art itself; it is the perfect background for the perfect shot.

Visit the Hofvijver next to the Binnenhof for a photo of the skyline of The Hague. A historic place with the Binnenhof as its background, including the Torentje, the Mauritshuis and the modern buildings of the city.

It doesn’t get more royal than this. The building is centuries old and is the site where great events for the royal family take place. The palace also has a garden, where you can enjoy peace and quiet among the flowers, pond and old trees.

Do you want to experience the Noordeinde Palace inside? This can be done during several days in the summer. The rest of the year it is the working palace of our King and therefore not accessible to visitors.

6. Museum Voorlinden

Okay, it may not exactly be in the city centre, but we include it anyway! Because Museum Voorlinden in the suburb of Wassenaar is one of our favorite museums in the Netherlands. Chances are you’ve already seen something on Instagram, because this museum offers the best Instagram-worthy photos.

For example, you have an illusionistic Swimming Pool by the Argentinian artist Leandro Erlich, and the sculpture “Open Ended” by the American artist Richard Serra.

The nice thing about this museum is that you walk through the artworks yourself and really experience it that way. We love to come here!

For a good photo you can also just go to a nice cafe, because nowadays the interior of the cafe is just as important as the food.

Visit the colorful Mugs and Mermaids, where the cappuccino is purple, the pancakes pink and the smoothie bowls blue. Also lovely is Bookstor, which in addition to a bookshop is also a place where you can have lunch and drink coffee.

In the evening you must visit Mama Kelly; one of the most famous instagram-worthy hotspots in The Hague. For a drink, we recommend Bleyenberg, as they have a rooftop bar; the perfect place for a sunset snapshot.

8. Lange Voorhout

Lange Voorhout is een laan in Den Haag tussen twee rijen met bomen en klassieke lantaarnpalen.

Lange Voorhout is an avenue between two rows of trees and classic lamp posts. Whether it is snowing, the leaves of the trees are falling or everything is in bloom, this place is always photo-ready.

9. Japanese Garden

When visiting the Japanese Garden, it feels like you are no longer in the Netherlands. This garden is filled with beautiful bridges, statues, lanterns, trees and ponds; all in Japanese style.

However, because the garden is very fragile, the garden is open to visitors for a number of weeks during the spring and autumn. View the current opening hours on the Japanese Garden website.

10. Hofjes

The Hofjes are beautiful old buildings with a garden that were built in the 19th century as a home for poor and old people. To date, there are dozens of Hofjes in The Hague that are inhabited. Because people live there, not all courtyards are accessible, but fortunately enough are.

For example, book a tour that takes you to different Hofjes or investigate and visit yourself. In any case, it is a beautiful setting for the perfect photo!
